2016 roulade en rosé
rosé of mourvedre
From the lovely Lovett Vineyard on the hillside of Clear Lake in Lake County hails the Mourvedre that ultimately turned into our most wonderful mistake ever! During harvest when a tank full of Mourvedre took off during fermentation and was at the point of blowing it’s top, we hastily bled off about one ton into macro bins. Just sitting in the macro bins it had a most lovely dusty rose color. We took a glass and gave it a taste. It was wonderful and we knew we could turn it into some pretty wonderful Rosé.
Our Roulade en Rosé has taken on the color of a light Ruby gem stone and boasts the flavors of caramelized strawberries, Montmerency cherries and is balanced by a delightful mineralité. Being a Rosé of Mourvedre it has a little more depth and character than your typical Rosé. You can bet it won’t be made by mistake next year!
