R&B Cellars

Riggers Loft Wine Company has closed its doors.

We are sorry to report that our home - Riggers Loft - is no longer. The City of Richmond has unceremoniously evicted us.

During Covid the prior Richmond city government worked out a reduced rent amount to help us get through the pandemis. At the end of the pandemic, a sizable amount of deferred rent had accumulated. We worked out a 4-year repayment plan with the city attorney only to have the newly elected Richmond city council members reject it. Instead, the city council demanded full and immediate repayment. They also added an additional $100K of penalties and interest on top of that. This was an impossible bill to pay at the end of our struggles of the pandemic. Whereas the former city council and govbernment had worked to support its local businesses, the current RPA (Richmond Progressive Alliance) city council is bent on destroying local businesses.

o An Unlawful Detainer - or UD - came on the heals of the demand of full rent repayment. UDs are a tried and true mechanism for eviction as they don't allow the "accused" to support their side with any explanations or documentation in court. It is a black or white, yes or no type of court proceeding. Even though we could negate all of the city claims against us, we could not defend ourselves. As such, we lost the Unlawful Detainer allowing the city to evict us. Riggers Loft closed its doors at the end of September.

R&B Cellars will remain in business for a while longer. We have a good supply of amazing library Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet...several vintages. They have aged gorgeously and all now all half price!

Please go to the wine page to order. Please note that we no longer have the ability to ship our wines via UPS. They can be picked up at our home in Pt. Richmond, or, in some cases, we can deliver to you.
