2022 Cabaletta Cabernet

Cabaletta…Italian for a simple Aire…one that is easily impressed on the listener and often forming a part of the Italian aria. Our Cabaletta Cabernet hails from the Red Hills in Lake County, at the foot of Mt. Konocti, a volcano which last erupted 11,000 years ago, but is still regarded as active. Volcanic soils, an abundance of sunshine and nighttime cooling "Mistral" breezes combine to create a perfect microclimate for growing dark, richly flavored fruit. Cabaletta sings with notes of blackberries and dark cherry in the nose, with hints of soft cocoa powder. In the mouth the wine is medium to full-bodied with flavors of plum and fig, blackberry and cassis, approachable tannins, and a long, lingering finish.
